Welcome to Norland CE School
Nestled in our small rural village, we may be a school with small numbers, but we have truly huge hearts. Norland is a caring, nurturing community where every child is known, valued and celebrated as an individual. Our dedicated staff work closely together to create a safe, supportive environment in which children feel happy, confident and ready to learn. At the heart of everything we do is a strong sense of belonging—because here, every child and every member of staff matters. Children enjoy coming to school and are happy here, and our parents consistently tell us how pleased they are with their children’s progress and the care shown by our dedicated team.
Our inclusive Christian vision actively guides everything we do, shaping teaching, relationships and daily routines. Guided by our vision of being the best we can be, we nurture a culture where relationships thrive and where pupils and adults grow spiritually, emotionally and academically. Empathy, kindness and mutual respect sit at the heart of school life, creating a compassionate environment in which everyone feels deeply valued and supported.
Parents describe Norland as a “lovely, supportive, warm and welcoming school” and often speak of the strong sense of community and belonging. They tell us how much they appreciate the fantastic teachers, the supportive leadership and the way staff truly care about the development of every child. Hearing families say “we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else” or simply “we love school ❤️” means so much to us.
Our recent Ofsted inspection recognised the strength of our community and the high-quality care we provide. Inspectors noted that pupils feel safe, are safe, and show kindness and consideration to one another. They highlighted the calm, positive atmosphere across school, where pupils behave well, work hard and support each other. Older pupils take pride in helping younger children, and staff know pupils exceptionally well, ensuring that every child—including those who may be vulnerable—receives the care and support they need to flourish.
Inspectors also praised our ambitious curriculum, our strong focus on early reading and phonics, and the way staff skilfully adapt learning so that all pupils, including those with SEND, can succeed. They recognised the dedication of our staff team and the positive relationships that underpin everything we do.
We are incredibly proud of our school and the community we share. If you would like to visit Norland CE School, find out more about what we offer, or discuss how we can support your child, we would be delighted to welcome you. Please do get in touch — we would love to meet you and show you what makes Norland such a special place to learn and grow.
