Mental Health and Wellbeing at Norland
“Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (Corinthians 13:7)
Be the Best we can be, guided by God’s love.
encouraging everyone to achieve their God-given potential,
develop their talents, celebrate their uniqueness,
and rejoice in the joy of belonging to God’s family.
At Norland, we take mental health and wellbeing seriously and are committed to supporting every member of our school community. We use tools such as the Zones of Regulation to help children understand and manage their emotions, alongside non-verbal communication cues, reflection areas, and sensory items like weighted plush toys (SID) to provide calm and focus when needed. Our Forest School sessions give children time to connect with nature, promoting emotional resilience and wellbeing. We actively listen to both pupil and staff voice, ensuring everyone feels heard and supported. To strengthen our approach, we work with CAMHS Northpoint, providing tailored workshops for pupils and professional training for staff, so that everyone has the knowledge and strategies to thrive.
Phunky Food Ambassadors
At Norland, we encourage healthy lifestyles through our Phunky Food Ambassadors programme. Pupils take an active role in promoting healthy eating, nutrition, and wellbeing across the school, helping to inspire their peers to make positive choices. Through workshops, activities, and campaigns, our ambassadors develop leadership skills, teamwork, and confidence, while supporting the school community to enjoy nutritious meals, understand the benefits of a balanced diet, and make informed choices about food.
